The Adara Story

The Adara Golf Club is the newly redesigned and remodeled Shoal River Country Club (SRCC). Some fifteen years ago, SRCC was in its third bankruptcy. The current developer undertook the challenge of salvaging and re-establishing its viability amidst tremendous negative perceptions. Depicted by a mallard in flight, SRCC seemed more often to be an impossible dream.

Today, Adara Golf Club brings a pervasive freshness to the entire Shoal River development. Its apple-shaped diamond signals glorious arrival and attainment. It is the crowning glory of adjacent Chanan Estates, the latest gated, golf development chosen as the central site for Okaloosa & Walton Counties' Parade of Homes in 2005 and 2006. It reflects the developer's continual pursuit to reinvest in the community, evidenced in the remodeling and reconstruction of its 18-hole championship golf course redesigned by Genes Bates, an international award-winning golf course architect.

Looking back, our efforts have indeed blessed many in the neighborhood. We want to express our gratitude and thanks especially to those who kept faith with us as the developer who would stay the course. The development of Chanan Estates and of a remade Adara Golf Club affirms our commitment to build a better neighborhood. Since the launch of Chanan Estates in March 2005, the upscale character of the homes being built is testimony to the community's discerning endorsement of our vision.

Through the years, we felt the aspirations for a quality golf club that befits a fast developing Crestview. Adara seeks to reflect these changing values and discriminating tastes, taking pride in being located in the choicest neighborhood south of Interstate 10 in Crestview. If you choose to live in Crestview and you share in the community's continual pursuit of better quality and discriminating taste, Chanan Estates at Adara Golf Club is the place to be.

Many wonder why the name "Adara" was chosen. The word is a shortened derivative of Hadarah or "glory" in Hebrew. Its root is Adar or "glorious," and essentially connotes "being superior." Golfers who have tasted the characteristic challenge of SRCC appreciate the alluring taunt of a superiorly discriminating course. Adara promises more with its revised layout and multi-million dollar renovations. The makeover warrants a new name that only Adara can match.

Indeed, as Adara means glory, we are committed to pursue improvements for the Golf Club and to uphold values that reflect this. We welcome you to share our vision through participation and support. For Adara is not about ourselves, but all of us in the neighborhood - our homes, our lifestyles, our community and our environment. As Senator John McCain has said so well, "Glory is not a conceit. It is not a decoration for valor. Glory belongs to the act of being constant to something greater than yourself, to a cause, to your principles, to the people on whom you rely and who rely on you in return."
